Texas School Announced It Will Being Back Paddling For Misbehaving Kids
Teaching discipline can be a challenging task, and some children adapt to it more easily than others. Schools sometimes hesitate to take on this responsibility, expecting parents to play the primary role. However, one school in Texas has taken an alternative approach. Faced with ongoing issues of student misbehavior, the school has opted for a traditional method: corporal punishment. They’ve decided to implement paddling for students who fail to follow discipline.
According to the Texas Classroom Teacher Association, corporal punishment is the “intentional infliction of pain” to reinforce discipline. Paddling involves a teacher using a wooden paddle to address disruptive behavior—a practice common in past generations.
This approach is usually reserved for students who exhibit serious behavioral issues, such as bullying or causing disruptions in class. It is seen as a last measure for those who do not respond to other disciplinary actions, like detention or suspension.
