“Shannen Doherty: Our Thoughts and Prayers Are with Her Family and Friends”

Shannen Doherty, born on April 12, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, was the daughter of Rosa and Tom Doherty. Her father worked in banking, while her mother owned a beauty salon. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1978, where her father started a West Coast branch of the family’s transportation business. Shannen developed an interest in acting early and made her debut at age ten on *Father Murphy* (1981).

At 11, she gained recognition for her role as Jenny Wilder in *Little House on the Prairie* (1974), which led to further opportunities. Shannen appeared in *Our House* (1986) and movies like *Girls Just Want to Have Fun* (1985) and *Heathers* (1988). Her breakthrough came in 1990 with her role as Brenda Walsh in the popular series *Beverly Hills, 90210*. After leaving the show in 1994, she starred in films such as *Almost Dead* (1994) and *Mallrats* (1995).

In 1998, Shannen joined *Charmed* as Prue Halliwell, working with Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs. She directed several episodes before departing after three years. Shannen continued with film roles and hosted *Scare Tactics* (2003). She later appeared on *North Shore* (2004) and *Love, Inc.* (2005) and starred in the reality series *Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty* (2006). Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13, 2024.
